Rain, Rain Go Away

So as I post this picture, I have just been told that the next 10 days will be dry - no complaining about that - except that we have just had some turf laid and life is much easier if the grass is watered naturally rather than by me standing there with a hose, lol.
No matter, I'm not going to wish for rain, but I am considering that my picture has magical rain spurning powers!!

I made a little rain droplet stencil out of paper using my fantastic Gyro Cut tool (love that tool) and used my new texture paste I made a few weeks ago - every time I open the pot a very strong smell of talcum powder wafts round the room - haven't decided whether I like it or not yet, it's quite over-powering!! That will teach me to use foot talcum powder in my texture paste recipe !!
I then added Glossy Accents on the top of each droplet so it would look shiny, as you can see below...

.....the only problem is that the rain seems to falling through the umbrella - whoops, didn't think about that, how annoying I thought, but I guess it was a learning process and I wasn't prepared to try and scrape the droplets off!

Thanks for visiting,

  1. I love this page. I like the way you put the definition under the letters of Rain. As for the umbrella the rain to me looks like it's falling behind the umbrella not through. I think it looks great.

  2. I love the playfullness of your page, you could also say that the rain is behind the girl? I used to cut my stencils with a heat tool but recently bought me a silhouette cameo.I use babypowder in my recipe for tecture paste and love the smell, what is your recipe?

    1. I totally agree with your statement, the crafting blog crowd are a very encouraging group, even my husband commented on it! The 'recipe' for the texture paste is really only trial and error - I think the recipe I was copying stated you needed to use twice as much powder as I had to use, so I think you need to play around with it! Thank you for your kind words, they are all very addictive to read!

  3. NO, the rain droplets are NOT falling through your umbrella, they are falling on the other side, outside your umbrella. It would look strange if they weren't there. A purely delightful scene you've created! Love the colors and all the fun details.

  16. I realize I must live in the dark, but I had never heard of a Gyro Cut tool until I checked it out on the internet. From what I found, it is mostly sold in the UK, which is possibly why I have never heard of it. I agree it sound FABULOUS, especially for someone as shy and fearful of craft knifes as I am. This may have been a learning experience on the raindrops and the texture paste, but it's a beautiful and fun entry regardless. If we don't learn something each time we make art, we are just rehashing what we've made in the past!
